The VF845 is a slimline touchscreen device which Vodacom promises will place the world of Android apps into the hands of tech-savvy consumers According to Vodacom more than 70 000 applications have been developed for the Android platform so far and more are being added daily.
The phone’s list of features include a 2.8 inch QVGA(320×240) 262k colour touch display; GPS, WiFi Bluetooth connectivity and 3G Internet connectivity. It is tailor-made to deal with essentials including The GRID, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook, according to Vodacom. Vodacom says the device runs on the “latest” Android Operating System, Éclair 2.1. The VF845 will retail at R1399. Rivalling devices nclude the HTC Tattoo (around R3500) and HTC Dream (around R4600) but these competing devices haven’t officially received updates to Éclair.
